English First mourns the loss of Jim Boulet Jr. E-mail

James J. Boulet, Jr.
1958-2009

Jim Boulet served as Executive Director of English First from 1995 to 2009.  Jim Boulet has been with English First since 1988 and served as the legislative director since 1992.  Jim’s dedication to English First is almost legendary on Capitol Hill.

His attendance at every single meeting or hearing having anything to do with making English the official language of the United States was automatic.  He would be there, in sickness or in health; whether he had been up, literally, all night preparing testimony; writing an article for the newsletter; or working on one of his many blogs.

Dedication seems an inadequate way to describe his willingness to go the extra mile in his efforts to unify this nation behind our common language – English.

His untimely death was a surprise even to those who, like me, worked just down the hall from Jim.  Suffering silently through the pain of advanced stage four cancer, Jim stayed on the job for as long as he could.

Jim Boulet went quietly to be with the Lord on the evening of January 16, 2009.  He had been battling cancer and had been hospitalized since Christmas.  English First mourns the loss of Jim and looks forward to carrying his legacy with us as we continue in our determination to make English America’s official language.

He will be missed by us all.

Acting Executive Director
